Do you like the damage of Plasma weapons, but prefer the looks of Laser or Institute weapons?

This mod adds an “Equalized Capacitor” mod to Laser and Institute weapons, giving each a significant damage boost nearly equal to Overcharged Plasma weaponry, and changing their ammo types to Plasma Cartridges.

Unlike other damage-boosting/balancing mods, the base damage of energy weapons isn’t affected at all, so laser-wielding NPCs won’t be overpowered!

Crafting the Equalized Capacitors is locked behind Rank 4 of the Science! perk, because I intended this to be an aesthetic option for end-game characters, without affecting the original progression of energy weapons during the course of the game.
I also set the crafting recipe to be double that of the Overcharged Capacitor mods- which is pretty expensive!
If you don’t like that, you can use the console to spawn in the mods without any perks or mats:
Laser Equalized Capacitor (xx00803)
Institute Laser Equalized Capacitor (xx00802)

Adding further modifications will still slightly favor Plasma weapons however. For instance, an Overcharged Plasma Sniper Rifle will do slightly more damage than an Equalized Laser Sniper Rifle. There’s no real way to address that other than increasing the base damage of Laser and Institute weaponry, which would give an extremely harsh edge to Synths and Super Mutants…
