Lamplighter – Useable Lanterns – A Merry Modding Days Mod v1.0
Carry your lantern around the wasteland!
Overview
Lamplighter adds usable lanterns to Fallout 4, with new lantern models, and new animations!
All lantern statics in the Commonwealth, Far Harbor, and Nuka World have been replaced with interactable version that be picked up or destroyed.
Picking up a lantern adds it to your inventory, which you can then use. These would be added to your ‘weapons’ inventory, as they are setup as melee weapons.
Alternatively, you can craft lanterns, and some alternate versions; at a Chemstation, or within Settlement Building, and light up your settlements! Workshop versions can be found under Decorations>Miscellaneous.
Lantern styles include: Regular/Vanilla, Minutemen (Recreated NV Lantern), Institute, Fusion, Vacuum Tube, Raider, Merry(Christmas), Jack-O-Lantern, and The Glowing One
Leveled Lists used for Minutemen, Railroad, Institute, and Brotherhood of Steel patrols have been injected with NPCs that will utilize lanterns that fit with their faction, so you may encounter these in the wild!
Animations include 1st person, 3rd person, and Power Armor.
Light/ESL ESP version available for those who only wish to have the craftable lanterns and patrol injects.
Notes
This mod was built on game version 1.10.163, and thus should work with downgraded, next gen, and anniversary editions of the game.
Due to the in-game statics being replaced with activator versions, the game views these as PreVis/PreCombine edits. While the ones made here don’t inherently cause breaks or issues as the model positions are still the same, you would need to keep this in mind if you are using other mods that edit PreCombines. A good example would be Previsibines Repair Pack – a popular mod that rebuilds previs/precombines for Fallout 4 to increase performance. If you are using a mod such as this, you should have Lamplighter load *before* these mods in your load order.
If you run this mod through Fo4Edit, it will show errors related to PreVis/Precombine records from DLC04 (Nuka World). Do *not* report this as a bug – Fallout 4 simply just does not like any mod to make any sort of edit to anything Nuka World related, and this gets reported back as an error.
Permissions
The animation set, related vanilla lantern, and Institute lantern are open perm and can be used within any mod with credit given.
The Minutemen, BOS, Fusion, Tube, Pumpkin, and Glowing One lanterns use assets provided by JViole/OWAP Team, and permission must be obtained from them before using these assets.
