The Second chapter of The Isles Of New England series, Misery Island is a location/quest & settlement mod that takes the player to the once peaceful vacation retreat known as Misery Islands, Massachusetts. What was once known for its scenic paths and seaside cottages now lies in quiet ruin, its history steeped in corruption, decay, and loneliness.
Aimed to fit seamlessly into the vanilla game with Easter eggs and references to the real life islands. Rewarding for players who take a little extra time to look around. Featuring environmental storytelling and a backstory progressed through NPC dialogue, Holotapes, Notes and Terminal Entries.

– A detailed new worldspace with 2 fully functional settlements, 20+ locations, 8 interior cells and many small points of interest hidden across the map.
– Custom Weapons, Armors, Clothing, Food, Junk and more.
– A brand new Radio Station.(all music has correct permissions for use)
– Custom Pipboy Map
– Returning game mechanics from older fallouts including skill checks and weapon schematics.
– A vast Random Encounter system including both vanilla random encounters plus brand new ones.
– A unique method of transport that will take you to the Island.
– A series of Lore Friendly Quests with optional side objectives and custom quest icon animations.
– Immersive Repairs that allow the player to fix the broken buildings in the settlements.
– Custom music selection featuring music from previous fallout games.(all music has correct permissions for use)
– Balanced loot (mostly handled by leveled lists)
– A new weather climate featuring a blend of custom weathers alongside Far Harbor and Commonwealth weathers.
– Companion Friendly. The base game companions & Longfellow will make comments during your journey and even interject into some conversations.
– Karma by Bp42s will be detected if installed and there will be Karma gain/loss depending on your choices.

How to start
Depending on the installation options you choose, there are several ways to start the quest. If the Pre-quest is enabled, a level 25+ player will receive a quest notification while venturing around that will guide them to the island.

Difficulty
Recommended for players level 25 or above. Depending on your difficulty setting some areas may be challenging for a lower level player.

Most quest markers will guide the player to the general area of the next objective but will disappear once the player is in the correct spot (like ‘cappy in a haystack’ from Nuka World) this is so the player has to do some investigating of their own.

No perks are required at any point to progress the quests.

Installation
Install one of the main files with mod manager. The fomod installer will guide you through some of the optional plugins that might improve your experience.

Far Harbor DLC is required.

This mod is not load order sensitive.

If Karma by Bp42s is installed in your load order it will be automatically detected and there will be Karma gain/loss depending on your choices during the quest.

Compatibility and Technical info
Compatible with Old Gen, Next Gen, and Anniversary Edition. The files were packed using Old Gen tools, so they should work across all versions.

Misery Island does not make any changes to cells within the commonwealth or Far Harbor worldspaces, instead using “persistent” records for the transport found in the vanilla worldspaces. This means it will not conflict with any mods that affect precombines.

This mod also does not change any vanilla game records. This means compatibility is extremely high. Most chances of mod conflicts will be clipping objects if another mod adds objects into the same area we have placed the transport to the Island.

Anyone can make translations for this mod as long as credit is given and the original file is a required download. Translators CAN earn donations points if they want to.
