THE WHY
My favorite ENB/ReShade presets used ReShade DoF effects, which, though great for taking screenshots, were not so great for actual gameplay in my opinion. So, I decided to tweak around with the ENB settings to come up with a ENB depth of field setting that would be a great balance between beauty, playability and performance. This is the result.
THE WHAT
This mod is only a Depth of Field preset to be used with your favorite ENB/ReShade presets for a subtle, gameplay-friendly DoF effect.
USING AN ENB PRESET IS REQUIRED, RESHADE IS OPTIONAL
The preset comes with the ENB Depth of Field – Focal Point Fix (courtesy of tapioks) applied:
If you play in 3rd person, it is highly recommended to apply the 3rd Person Camera Fix (again, courtesy of tapioks, a fine sir) as well:
HOW TO INSTALL:
1. Turn off your ReShade DoF effect (skip this if you don’t have ReShade installed or are certain it is turned off)
1.1. Navigate to Fallout 4/ReShade and open McFX.cfg with Notepad or another text editor
1.2. Ctrl+f “define USE_DEPTHOFFIELD”
1.3. Set it to 0:
define USE_DEPTHOFFIELD 0
2. Move enbdepthoffield.fx and enbdepthoffield.fx.ini files to Fallout 4/enbseries
3. Open enbseries.ini from the Fallout 4 main folder
3.1. Ctrl+f “EnableDepthOfField=”
3.2. Set it to true:
EnableDepthOfField=true
4.1.Launch the game
4.2.0. Enjoy!
