Suppressed Laser Sniper
What It Currently Does
This mod changes the Improved Sniper Barrel modification of the laser pistol / sniper so that, additional to what it was currently doing, it also lowers the detection sound level to that of a suppressed 10mm pistol.
Why It Does What It Does
To be perfectly honest, I think the fact that the laser guns make a sound is a little dumb, let alone a loud sound. However, removing the sound altogether might be a little cheaty. Although the main reason I haven’t done it, or at least lowered the sound more, is because I can’t be sure what the other sound level values do. I’ll play around with them, but we might have to wait until the dev kit comes out.
What It Will Eventually Do
Have a FOMOD installer
Have optional ESPs via installer that will grant the same changes to other laser pistol / rifle modifications
Have optional ESPs via installer that will grant the same (or similar) changes to the plasma pistol / rifle
Have ESPs for different sound levels for each of the mods. Each player should be able to choose which mods add sound suppression and to what degree each modification silences. Modular-like 😀
What It Will Not Do
This mod will never replace the actual sound you hear from the game. This is JUST stealth detection.
I will likely (but MAYBE) change the sound level from the laser guns themselves. I will keep to the weapon attachments.
I will not be creating new weapon attachments. Frankly, for the energy weapons, suppressing the sound seems more realistic to me without attachments at all, so making people choose between a new attachment and ones that add range or damage will likely not happen.
I will not be modifying any other values for energy weapons or the attachments. I will not add different damage types, etc. I believe in modular mods that can be combined by a player on their own terms.
I will probably not be adding suppression for any other weapons apart from energy guns in this mod. I might make other mods, but, again, modular.
What It Will Conflict With
This mod will conflict with anything that modifies the Laser Improved Sniper Barrel attachment. If you want this one to “win” against larger mods, make sure this one is lower on the list.
How Was It Made
This mod was made using FO4Edit. A lot of thanks to ElminsterAU, Hlp, Zilav and Sharlikran.
Furthermore, if I am not too lazy this weekend, I will be making a video that details step-by-step how I made my changes as well as things learned. Hopefully this will lead to more creative people making their own changes.
